Bakewell is one of the most popular places to visit in the Peak District.  Bustling during the day, it takes on a relaxed charm of its own in the evening where a stroll along the banks of the Wye can be rewarded with a fine pint of Bakewell-brewed beer, indulge in a Bakewell Pudding or dinner in one its wonderful restaurants.

Pudding Cottage is just 200 metres from the centre of town and all its amenities which include a swimming pool, museums and galleries, a wide range of interesting shops and some lovely walks.

Not far from Bakewell lies Haddon Hall, the finest mediaeval hall in the country and Chatsworth House, grander than Buckingham Palace itself!

Other treats are a short drive away, they include the delightful Hassop Station, where you can hire a bicycle or explore the Monsal Trail on foot and return for a hearty lunch at the Cafe.

The heights of Abraham in Matlock and Buxton Opera House are well worth exploring along the A6. Etc

The landscape of the Peak District is justifiably world renowned and there are thousands of kilometres of footpaths to enjoy along with open access land for more confident navigators to explore.  Bakewell Information Centre is a short stroll from Pudding Cottage and will be able to advise you on making the most from your holiday.
